I longed for the world to seep into my skin only to realize it was there all along. Its roots tickled the bottom of my stomach and its branches pressed against the cage of my skeleton. The scent of spring flowers and human agony swarmed into my nostrils at unidentified intervals. The sensation of floating like a cloud was a privilege given to me by eight hours of unconsciousness during the night. I once wanted to be everything but human. That was before I realized that being human means carrying a part of the world in my bones, in my skin, in my hair, in my smile, in my tears, in myself.
